The hunt in most counties was stopped just days before it was due to begin on March 1, after an appeal to the Court of Appeal in Sundsvall by, among others, the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation. On Tuesday, the Court of Appeal rejected the appeals.
The Swedish Society for Nature Conservation also announces that it will once again appeal, this time to the Supreme Administrative Court.
The Administrative Court's ruling affected hunting in all counties with approved licensed hunting except Västerbotten, Västernorrland, Jämtland and Gävleborg. There, the Administrative Court had already given the green light for hunting a few days earlier.
153 lynxes may be shot in the hunt.
Corrected: In a previous text, there was incorrect information about which court had made decisions regarding certain counties.
