When she got to SVT's interview microphone, the rider was noticeably moved.
"It's just so fucking sad. This was my discipline. I'm just brushing it off. I don't actually know what happened," says a tearful Årsjö.
Årsjö has won three golds and one bronze at the Paralympics in Milano-Cortina. It looked like there would be another one after the first run, where she led by almost two seconds.
But in the second run, the Swede made an early mistake. That seemed to unsettle Årsjö, who then stumbled later on the hill and crashed out.
There was a lot of panic. I just thought, "It can, can, can work - just push it in." And I did, and then it went haywire.
The winner was Russian Varvara Vorontjichina, 1.5 seconds ahead of China's Zhu Wenjing. Bronze went to Canada's Michaela Gosselin.
