The Pentagon is in the process of finalizing a written order to send the force, according to reports.
The force functions as the US Army's rapid reaction force and can be deployed anywhere in the world within 24 hours, reported the Wall Street Journal. The soldiers are trained to parachute into hostile territory to seize airfields and other key locations.
The New York Times reported on Monday that President Donald Trump's administration was considering deploying the force.
Denied negotiations
Iran has received "points from the United States through mediators," a senior Iranian Foreign Ministry official told CBS News.
This follows Trump's claim on Monday that the US and Iran had "very good and productive" talks in recent days. But confusion reigns. Iran quickly denied that negotiations were taking place - a denial that Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, who is reported to be involved in the talks, repeated on Tuesday.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Tuesday afternoon at X that the country is ready to host "meaningful and decisive" talks.
According to information provided to The New York Times, a 15-point negotiating document, which Trump confirmed on Monday, was sent to Iran via Pakistan.
House hit in Tel Aviv
Black smoke rose from Tel Aviv early Tuesday. According to Israeli media, an Iranian ballistic missile - whose warhead reportedly weighed 100 kilograms - lightly injured four people and caused damage to buildings and cars.
At least twelve people have also been injured in an Iranian rocket attack on the city of Bnei Brak just east of Tel Aviv and on the nearby town of Givat Shmuel, reported the Israeli Haaretz.
Overnight, Iranian military sources told the state-controlled Fars news agency that two gas facilities and an oil pipeline were attacked by the US and Israel on Monday. According to Fars, this happened hours after Trump claimed that the US would refrain from attacking Iranian energy targets for five days.
The Israeli military claims to have attacked military industrial facilities in Isfahan, including an explosives factory.
The nuclear power plant in Bushehr has also been hit in an attack, but without extensive damage, according to Iran's Atomic Energy Organization.
