We have agreed to be able to jump-start the next term by forming a strong majority government if we gain the voters' trust, says Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M).
The announcement will be made at a press conference together with SD party leader Jimmie Åkesson.
M will allow SD into a government if the Tidö Alliance gains a majority after the election and Kristersson is the alliance's candidate for prime minister. The government will consist of M, KD, L and SD, according to the party leaders.
"Now we are showing the voters that I will lead a government consisting of four parties," says Kristersson.
In the most difficult situation since World War II, Sweden cannot stand without an effective government.
Not tolerated
Åkesson has long demanded ministerial posts if the right-wing party wins the election and has said that he sees himself as a candidate for prime minister, but he has also pointed out that he would probably not be tolerated by the Riksdag.
"With the message we are giving today, we can promise stability and a majority government if we get 175 seats in the Swedish parliament. The central thing for SD is the substantive political content, not hats and positions or titles," says Åkesson.
Even if M were to get 15 percent and SD 30 percent, Åkesson will not aspire to the post of prime minister, as SD stands behind the moderate leader.
"That's correct," he says.
Minister of Migration
The SD will have a major influence on policy issues regarding migration and integration, which Kristersson believes is natural. A strict and responsible migration policy must be established, according to the SD leader.
"I think 'Migration Minister Jimmie Åkesson' sounds great, but we're not there yet."
He also wants SD to receive "important ministerial positions" and posts proportional to the party's size in the election.
"We actually have a claim to all parts; we will come back when there is an election result."
Red lines gone
Recently, the Liberals opened up to allowing the SD into a government, and the Christian Democrats' party leader Ebba Busch has said that a Tidö coalition could consist of four parties. This has changed the game plan, according to Kristersson. He has previously said that he did not intend to make any announcement about the SD before the election.
"Now the parliamentary conditions on our side have changed after L's courageous decision," says Ulf Kristersson.
It is an exceptionally good situation.
