At a joint press conference with SD leader Jimmie Åkesson, Ulf Kristersson announced that the Moderates want to include SD in the government if the Tidö parties win the election this fall. Then it is natural that the SD will have great influence over migration and integration issues, Kristersson believes.
"I think it sounds great to have Jimmie Åkesson as migration minister, but we're not there yet," Åkesson said.
Busch critical
Ebba Busch herself was not at the press conference. She welcomes the fact that both M and L have now clearly stated that SD can sit in the government. But she is clearly critical of starting to distribute different areas of responsibility to different parties. It is not something KD supports, and Ulf Kristersson does not have the mandate to do so, she emphasized.
"There is no mandate for any single party among the four of us to promise another party any particular area of responsibility," she said.
Non-question about Kristersson
The press conference also announced that Kristersson is the Tidö parties' candidate for prime minister. Busch said it has been a non-issue, something that does not need to be negotiated.
"If you look at the numbers and know something basic about politics, Kristersson is the one who has had the conditions to gather the support needed in the Swedish parliament," she said.
A candidate for prime minister must have a majority in the Riksdag in order to be elected, which Jimmie Åkesson is not expected to be able to achieve.
"I don't think Kristersson should have to pay for something that is sort of a reality," she said.
