"Disrespectful and intolerant," wrote Spanish star Lamine Yamal about the behavior of some supporters.

"Using religion as a mockery makes you appear intolerant and racist," the 18-year-old Barcelona player, who is Muslim, wrote on Instagram.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez condemned the behavior, writing on Platform X that it “tarnishes the image of Spain as a multicultural and tolerant country.”

It is the latest in a series of similar incidents that have darkened Spanish football in recent years. Real Madrid's Brazilian striker Vinicius Junior has been subjected to racist abuse on a regular basis.
