26 people were rescued on Friday off Crete by a ship from the EU border agency Frontex.
On Saturday, survivors said another 22 people were on the rubber boat when it left Libya for Europe last weekend. The dead were reportedly thrown into the sea on the orders of people smugglers on board.
The migrants were reportedly at sea for six days - without food or water - before the rescue arrived. Two suspected smugglers have been arrested by Greek authorities.
