The Palestinian Red Crescent confirms that the bodies of two adults and two children have been recovered from a vehicle fired on by Israeli forces in the town of Tammun.
The Israeli military and police said in a joint statement that the soldiers opened fire on a car that was accelerating towards them. According to the statement, it was in connection with an operation to hunt for suspected terrorists.
The incident is reportedly under investigation.
The couple who were shot dead had two other children in the car. The children survived but were injured by shrapnel.
