"It Must Have Been Love" was first released in 1987, and three years later in a more famous version included on the soundtrack to the film "Pretty Woman".
"I am a very proud father of 'It Must Have Been Love' and the fact that it has now passed a billion streams is a little hard to take in. It was written on the piano in the attic in Halmstad and was a little difficult for me to sing, but when Marie Fredriksson got hold of it, it sounded a little magical right away," says Per Gessle in a press release.
Roxette are now, together with ABBA, the only Swedish artists to have broken the billion-stream mark on the streaming giant with songs released before the 2000s.
Correction: An earlier version incorrectly stated that "It Must Have Been Love" was included on Roxette's debut album.
