The need for oil in Cuba is urgent, as fuel shortages due to the US blockade have knocked out large parts of the country's production, transportation system and healthcare.
"If any country wants to send some oil to Cuba right now, I have no problem with that, even if it's Russia," Donald Trump added.
The state-owned Russian tanker Anatoly Kolodkin, loaded with about 730,000 barrels of oil, is expected to arrive in the port city of Matanzas on Tuesday. The ship is on EU, U.S. and U.K. sanctions lists over Russia's war in Ukraine.
