The Spanish company Talgo will deliver the 10 new locomotives and 91 carriages that will run between Stockholm and northern Sweden from 2030.

We want to say that we have set high standards, Rikard Granlund, head of the performance unit at the Swedish Transport Administration, said on the radio.

Last fall, a first round of procurement was paused when the Swedish Transport Administration did not receive any tenders that met the requirements.

The night trains to northern Norrland are operated by SJ, which will continue to operate them until December this year.

Last week, the Swedish Transport Administration announced that the procurement for SJ's successor will be redone because the tenders received, according to a press release, "do not fit within the given financial framework."
