"I'm going to give some good news to the American people. Not only is the World Cup coming to Fox this summer, so is Zlatan. See you soon. Enjoy," Ibrahimovic, 44, said in

when the news was shared.

Ibrahimovic will appear regularly on the broadcasts.

"We started with a blank sheet of paper and thought some names were long shots. Then there are others that we had worked with before and also many others in between. Zlatan was one of those where there was no reason not to try and see if he was willing to do this," Fox Sports CEO Brad Zager told The Athletic, according to Aftonbladet.

Among the other experts on Fox are Frenchman Thierry Henry and American Alexi Lalas.

On Wednesday, Sweden's national team manager Graham Potter will present the squad for the World Cup playoff match against Ukraine next week. It is therefore not yet clear whether Sweden will participate in the tournament.

The World Cup begins on June 11 and will be played in Canada, Mexico and the United States. For the first time, 48 national teams will participate in the tournament.

Corrected: In a previous version there was incorrect information about when the World Cup starts.
