A person in Örnsköldsvik has been targeted by a scam via telephone.

The person had rented a car a few days ago.

Although the car has been returned, the person received an SMS today with a request to return the car. The person called the telephone number in the SMS, which was stated to belong to the car rental's customer service. The person who answered, however, was a scammer who claimed that the person had been ID-capped.

The person was directed to another call, to another scammer who claimed to be from the bank. Now the person would get help, but in connection with the "help" money disappears from the person's account.

The police have held interrogations and a report of fraud has been drawn up. At present, there is no known suspect.
