The increase in March dampens the decline in first-quarter new car registrations to a total of 2 percent.
The share of plug-in passenger cars - which includes both electric cars and hybrids - amounted to 65 percent of registrations in March. For electric cars, there was a 30 percent increase, meaning electric cars account for 41 percent of the month's new registrations.
"The strong development of electric cars is a long-term trend, which may be reinforced by concerns about continued high fuel prices," Mobility Sweden writes in a press release.
